Dear members:

Due to the low traffic volume, and the fact that we have several other
forums for discussions about Opera, we have decided to shut down the
Opera-Users mailing list. You can expect the list to be closed for new
mail towards the end of July, 2010.

The archives will still be available online after the closing date:

http://list.opera.com/pipermail/opera-users/

If you wish to continue discussing Opera, we recommend the My Opera forums:

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/

Our news/NTTP server, news.opera.com, is also still open.

Best regards,
Håvard Kvam Moen (Opera-Users mailing list administrator)

That's a pity, I much prefer the mailing list system.
Anyone feel like a Yahoo group?

Sure! It's strange to kill something like this.

Like others, I think this would be an acceptable replacement.

Perhaps the reason for the low volume on this list is that it is
evidently incompetently managed. I receive the Digest, which ought to
contain everything sent to the list, and ought to be sent out on a
regular basis. You (Harry) were replying to a message that never got to a
Digest.

Checking back I see that Digest vol.66 issue 2 was sent out on 20 May.
Vol.67 issue 1 was sent on 1 July, containing 4 messages all dated 20
May. Today I received vol.67 issues 2 and 3, containing respectively 3
messages dated 1 July, all on a thread "Several browsers" of which I have
not seen the first message; and 20 messages dated 2 and 3 July, all
responses to various other messages I have not seen.

Perhaps we'd be better off if this list moved somewhere else after all. I
don't accept that I should be forced to go to single-message mode in
order to get all the traffic.

Sorry to hear this
As with all others that have gone this route I will no longer be participating
The list is good as I do not have to waste my time and go looking to see if there might be something of interest, info is delivered to me.

Dear members:

Due to the low traffic volume, and the fact that we have several other forums for discussions about Opera, we have decided to shut down the Opera-Users mailing list. You can expect the list to be closed for new mail towards the end of July, 2010.

The archives will still be available online after the closing date:

http://list.opera.com/pipermail/opera-users/

If you wish to continue discussing Opera, we recommend the My Opera forums:

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/

Our news/NTTP server, news.opera.com, is also still open.

Best regards,

What on earth does low traffic volume have to do with anything? It's the
members who keep the list going, with virtually no contribution required
or requested from anyone at Opera. Why would we want to join a forum when
a list is so much easier and less time-consuming?

Please reconsider this decision.

Håvard: Is this going to affect the Opera-Linux mailing list? I notice nothing has been mentioned in that list and it has an even lower traffic volume than the Opera-Users list.
