... or just with my setup - or with www.newscientist.com ?

Clicked on various links on the home page or in the email newsletter,
page loads and is then wiped clean while taskbar message reads
"Downloading data from adtech.panthercustomer.com".

Seems to load and work OK on my end, although just for kicks I tried it in Safari and it loads a hell of a lot faster there.

Anyone having issues with Unite? As much malice as I feel toward it (because it seems a ton of resources went its way instead of fixing other bugs and furthering Opera development) I figured I'd try to make use of it, and had my fiancee create a My Opera account so that we could use the Messenger. The thing constantly says that both of us are offline, and despite the fact that we've sent messages to each other, neither of us has received a single thing. Thoughts there?

Final question - I still have those malformed HTML emails in my inbox, that cause Opera to hang. I can't forward them with my bug report, but is there any way I can find the file and include it as an attachment? That is, has anyone navigated Opera's mail directories outside of Opera?

Cheers,
David

I tried it out straight away and although it's a bit quirky and in
places a bit simple and clunky (I like that American word!) it does
seem to work, once you've found out how to point it at the right
folder (not as easy as those cunning Norwegians seem to think... but
then I'm not Norwegian). I downloaded a file of some 340MB and it
took about 90m, speed about 40KB/s... It also, for some reason,
changed the size slightly /and/ turned it from a 7z (*whatever that
is - something that's been compressed, anyway) into an htm, very odd.
I haven't tried unpacking it yet. It came from my son, so I assume it is safe!

Photographs have been safely 'shared', as we have to say these days.

It's odd that it seems to have difficulty holding on to local OU
users (i.e. my laptop, if I'm upstairs, or my desktop, if I'm not).
But untick the Discover other OU users option and then tick it on
again and it immediately finds whichever is the other.

I look forward to all these teething troubles being sorted out. I
think it's going to be really useful to me. Of course, eventually I'd
like to be able to use different passwords for different folders, and
so on. I imagine I'm by no means the first person to have thought of that.

Sorry, I don't use the Opera mail client.

Thanks John. Maybe I should tinker with the settings.

Well well well... Guess what? Changing the old (ancient) setting
'Identify as Internet Explorer' to 'Identify as Opera' has solved it!

I hope nobody will hold it against me that I didn't think of
experimenting with this... Please, no brickbats through my windows!
(And if through window, please not through car
windscreen!)(Especially as the marque is set to go down the tube (or
is it tubes?).)

Harry (officially turned 64 48 mins ago, though not really of course
because I assume I was born under GMT, though that in itself is an
interesting question as I believe summer time continued much longer,
maybe all year round, during the war - but then again, 64 years ago
was after the war). I'm knocking off now after a frustrating day
correcting - in Excel, a program I'm not familiar with but which
everyone tells me, and I believe them, is not suited for text
processing - a badly done translation of a document which has proved
to be based on a text slightly different from the one the customer
sent me as the original Dutch... (And the Dutch isn't very well
written to start with!)

Hi Rodger,

You've doubtless by now seen my last msg - but thanks for your idea
(whatever it means!)...

Cheers,

Harry
