Is it not good to have more than one web browser installed on a pc? Can I
install Opera if I have IE installed?

You can have as many browsers as you like. There are no problems with that.

I had IE, Firefox and Opera installed on my PC for many years without any
conflicts. There are some sites that don't support Opera, and in those
cases I'd generally copy the URL to IE and proceed. No problem.

Same here, only I use Chrome as a second browser. It is much better
with Gmail, and with several other sites. For me, 10.5 has been a step
backward, e.g., ofter needing to use Fit to Width, and the Widget
fail.

Well, for example, I get an email message from my bank whenever there is a
transaction recorded, but Opera doesn't decode it. I have to open the
message in Mac Mail (or Outlook if I'm using Windows) in order to read
it. I've had other similar problems with Opera mail as well.

Hi Jack,
have you reported this problem to Opera earlier? It would be interesting to know what Opera (or the bank!) is doing wrong..

It's not just the bank. And Opera doesn't have any way to report
anything, so far as I know, since they discontinued their premium
support. Their message I got when they dropped the service was to submit
inquiries to the group.

Hi Guys,

When you find a faulty web site Go 2 the Opera Help Menu and select
"Report a site problem" this should help solve these problems. :)

Thanks, Rodger. Sounds like a good idea; I wasn't aware of that
function. Only, I just now tried it, twice, and nothing happened. Nada.
I'm not sure this would warrant a bug report, but maybe it'll come to
that. What do you think?

HI,

Same here. Using Opera 10.60 build 8402 on G5 Mac with OS 10.5.8. Help button is slow to respond - 3-4 seconds (Widget button is also slow) - and then when I click on the "Report a Site Problem ..." button nothing happens.

Sorry thats not correct, I was able to open 5 tabs of different web sites
and the "Report a Site problem" was able to be accessed from the Help menu.

My experiences are similar: I'm using Opera version 10.54, Build 8334 on a
Mac mini running Snow Leopard version 10.6.4 and what I'm about to describe
has never occurred on previous Opera versions.

I can only review new Gmail in this Opera version. Whenever I try to send
new e-mail, Opera collapses and re-loads. Whenever I delete an e-mail, Opera
collapses and re-loads. Whenever I try to empty my spam or trash
folders, Opera collapses and re-loads.

I'd love a solution.

I installed 10.60 and finally I got the site problem window open. Only,
it doesn't work on emails, which maybe I ought to have mentioned earlier
to avoid confusion. My problem is that emails from my bank are blank, and
contain only this message:
Warning: While decoding this file Opera encountered errors.
Anybody know how I could get instructions from Opera re how to overcome
this error? It's the same on my Opera for Window, BTW.

No, the "reply" page is also blank, not even the error message appears.
But, as I may have said before, the email reads fine in Mac Mail, so
there's some glitch in Opera Mail; I've tried all the various applicable
options for viewing images, etc.

Hi Jack,

I've just tested it on my bank web site, not that there's any prob, but it
gets ready for the report back to Opera, all ok here.

maybe a reboot and try again is required ???

My Opera 10.54 for Mac crashes or freezes every few minutes sometimes.
Other times it will run for hours. I rarely have this problem with
Windows, even when I have 20 or more tabs open. Can anybody suggest the
reason for this? I know that Opera has instructions for determining the
cause of crashes, but I haven't been able to locate the files, maybe
because I'm new to Mac.

You can install Opera even though you have IE. I have and I normally use Opera.

Hi Jack,

I've been having this problem with certain emails as well, although sometimes the email is just blank with no warning message. It's been going on for quite some time now - I think since version 10 was introduced.

I'm not sure if it'll be helpful for you, but I've found that with the "blank" emails I can read the contents. Simply reply to the email, and the contents of the email appear in the quoted content. In my case, I'm fairly certain that the emails are HTML, but in the "reply" they become plain text only. If your emails are very heavy on the HTML then you may just end up with a jumble of code.

It'd be nice if Opera would fix this, among other things...
